Your questions answered
At Knits and Novelties, every stitch is crafted with care and passion, right here in Swansea, United Kingdom. We pride ourselves on creating unique, heartwarming items that also support a wonderful cause. Dive into our FAQs to learn more about our process, our products, and how your purchases make a difference.
How long do your items take to make?
Can I have a custom design?
Do you use patterns?
A few of our first produced creations are based on established patterns, which we often adapt and personalise. Other items are born from our own original designs, making them truly unique to Knits and Novelties. We also welcome new ideas and inspirations!
Can I wash my item?
We recommend surface cleaning only with a damp cloth to ensure that damage doesn't occur. In most cases this is sufficient in keeping your item in tip top condition.
Are these suitable as pet toys?
No! Please DO NOT allow your pets to play with these items.
Are the characters suitable for young children?
Whilst every care is taken during the processes used to create these wonderful characters, it is recommended that they are not suitable for children under 3 years of age if they contain small or movable parts.
Adult supervision is highly recommended at all times.
Are the characters official products or endorsed?
No. They are designed merely as representations of popular characters, people etc and are not affiliated with any company in any way.
Saving the planet
From time to time packaging such as bubble wrap and envelopes may be from recycled resources.
Yarns and fillings etc are always new for hygiene and safety.
What materials do you use?
We carefully select our materials. Where possible, we use hypo allergenic filling and carefully selected yarns to ensure our products are suitable for everyone. We prioritise quality and comfort in every item we create.
What makes Knits and Novelties special?
Every single item from Knits and Novelties is infused with love and care, making each piece truly unique. What truly sets us apart is our commitment to giving back: all profits from your purchases are donated to local animal charities, making your gift or treat extra special.
Here you will always find unique items suitable as gifts for the person who already has everything, special occasions or whether you are looking to treat yourself or start a collection.
What about safety features?
For products that include safety eyes, safety noses etc, we take extra precautions. Each safety feature has a tear-resistant fabric backing to help prevent it from being pulled through, ensuring durability and peace of mind.
Adult supervision is recommended for children under 3.
How do sales help animal charities?
Can I have stitched eyes on my character instead?
Yes! Absolutely you can. Please either contact us to request this or pop a message in the box at checkout.
Your satisfaction is our priority.
What about traceability?
All materials used to create the products are recorded so full traceability of individual components are always available if needed.
Each component also has its own safety and manufacturer's sheet available including the manufacturer details.
Fire Hazards
A finished product has been fire assessed by purposely igniting the product and recording the evidence both as a written document and also video evidence.
It is always advised that our products do not come into contact with any naked flames or any other potentially flammable materials.
REMEMBER! Carelessness causes fire!
Do your products carry the UKCA mark?
Yes, where relevant the products have a swing tag attached with the UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) sticker located on it. This shows that the item conforms to all applicable British health, safety and environmental protection legislation. It acts as the British equivalent of the European Union's CE mark following Brexit.
It will also carry any age suitability mark or recommended age restrictions/ warnings where applicable.
